Keep an off-site copy of every website.
SherDore Backup archives your site's files and WordPress database and stores them away from your server, so a bad update, a hack or a hosting failure never leaves you with nothing.
- One PHP file to install

Why Backup
Most sites have exactly one copy: the live one.
When the only copy lives on the same server as the site, anything that takes the server down takes the backup with it.
Without Backup
- A bad plugin update leaves the site broken, with nothing to go back to.
- A hack means rebuilding from memory.
- Your host's own backup is out of your control, or missing.
- Nobody remembers when the last copy was taken.
With SherDore Backup
- A full copy of the files and database held away from your server.
- A history of every backup, with its status and time.
- Download the archives whenever you need them.
- No SSH keys or server credentials handed over.
Features
Simple on purpose.
Backup does one job: get a complete copy of your site somewhere safe, and keep it where you can reach it.
Files archive
Your site's files are packed into a single compressed archive and uploaded, so you hold a complete copy of everything on disk.
WordPress database
On WordPress sites the database is dumped and uploaded alongside the files. Other sites back up files only.
Stored off your server
Archives go straight to cloud storage, separate from your hosting, so a failed server does not take your backups with it.
One PHP file to install
Download a single agent file from your dashboard and upload it to your site. No SSH, no plugin, no server credentials.
Keeps the latest five
The five most recent completed backups of each site are kept. Older ones are cleaned up automatically after each new backup.
Download any time
Every backup is listed with its status, and the files and database archives each download with a click.
The agent
One file is the whole install.
Download a lightweight PHP agent, upload it to your site, and open it in your browser. It does the rest.
- A single self-contained PHP file, made for your site with its own token
- Packs your files into one compressed archive and uploads it
- Detects WordPress and dumps the database too
- Delete the file when you are done and nothing is left running

How it works
From first site to first backup.
Four steps, and none of them needs a terminal.
- 1
Add your website
Give the site a name and its domain in your dashboard.
- 2
Download the agent
Get the agent file made for that site and upload it to the site's document root.
- 3
Run a backup
Open the agent in your browser and choose Run backup. The archives upload to storage.
- 4
Download when needed
Return to your dashboard to see every backup and download the files or database.
Backup history
See every backup at a glance.
Each site has its own history, so you always know what you have and how old it is.
- Every backup listed with its start time and status: pending, complete or failed
- Separate downloads for the files archive and the database dump
- Only one backup at a time per site, so runs never collide
- A stalled backup stops blocking new runs after two hours

FAQ
Straight answers.
Are backups automatic?
Not yet. You start a backup by opening the agent in your browser and choosing Run backup. Scheduled backups are not part of the current version.
Can I restore with one click?
No. SherDore Backup stores your backups and lets you download them. Restoring is up to you or your host: download the archives and put them back.
What gets backed up?
All of the site's files, as one compressed archive. If the site runs WordPress, its database is dumped and uploaded too. For other sites the backup contains files only.
How big can a site be?
The agent runs on your own hosting, so it is limited by your host's time limits. In this first version it is best for sites under roughly 1 to 2 GB. Larger sites may stop partway through.
Where are backups stored?
In cloud object storage that is separate from your website's server. The agent uploads archives directly to it.
How many backups are kept?
The five most recent completed backups for each site. After a new backup finishes, anything older is removed.
Do I need SSH or server access?
No. If you can upload a file to your site, you can install the agent. Delete the file when you are done and nothing is left running.
How do I sign in?
SherDore Backup uses single sign-on with your SherDore account. Choose Log in and you come straight back here.
Is my data separate from other customers?
Yes. Your sites and backups are private to your account and not visible to anyone else.
